NDR Report on VIVATOP: Augmented Reality in Medicine
Liver surgery is one of the most demanding sub-areas of abdominal surgery. Medical staff must therefore prepare thoroughly for operations. However, the black and white CT and MRI images used for this purpose are often difficult to interpret.
With the collaboration of SZENARIS, new applications are therefore being developed in the VIVATOP project (Versatile Immersive Virtual and Augmented Tangible Surgery), which uses virtual and augmented reality technologies as well as 3D printing to effectively support both the planning and execution of surgical operations as well as education, training and continuing education scenarios.
