For mobile water treatment, so-called water tank containers with water treatment facilities are used. If a source of raw water is available and there is sufficient fuel for the power generator, these systems can be operated self-sufficiently for a long period of time. The systems are in use all over the world. For operators of water tank containers, both a learning software and a virtual reality simulation for commissioning for drinking water treatment were developed.

The learning software also explains how to fix possible malfunctions. After working through the learning programme, the learners apply their new knowledge in virtual reality and uses the water tank system in an interactive and step-by-step way. In another virtual reality application, spare parts can be selected and ordered interactively on the 3D model.
